James Gunn has discovered his Lex Luthor.
Nicholas Hoult will play the Man of Metal’s arch nemesis in “Superman: Legacy,” finishing the core forged for the superhero reboot, with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan already set to play Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
Hoult was one of many actors who was reportedly within the working for the titular position; as an alternative, Gunn — the co-chief of DC Studios and the writer-director of the movie — picked Hoult to play Luthor, the trade titan with a bald head and an abiding fixation on bringing down the Final Son of Krypton.
With the actors strike over, Gunn has been busy filling out his forged. He confirmed on social media that María Gabriela de Faría was not too long ago forged as one other villain, the Engineer. On the superhero facet, Superman will probably be backed by Inexperienced Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) and Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan).
“Superman: Legacy” is the inaugural function movie in DC Studios’ relaunch of the DC universe in movie and tv, which Gunn and fellow co-chief Peter Safran introduced in January. On Nov. 11, Gunn posted that because of the work of his manufacturing workforce throughout the strikes, the movie continues to be set to make its initially scheduled launch of July 11, 2025.
Hoult has had a busy docket of late: He’s starring in Clint Eastwood’s upcoming authorized thriller “Juror #2”; he’s within the animated movie “Garfield” because the voice of Jon, the titular cat’s proprietor; and he’s in Robert Eggers’ manufacturing of “Nosferatu” reverse Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Invoice Skarsgard.
